Beaufort
Twickenham Plantation is located only 20 minutes outside of Beaufort, SC. Beaufort was first discovered by the Spanish in 1514 and was chartered by the British in 1711. It is the second-oldest town in South Carolina. It offers charming shopping and waterfront dining as well as a one of only three National Historic Landmark Districts in South Carolina. The Intracoastal Waterway flows through this quaint small town, making it a popular destination for boaters. Beaufort has been the picturesque backdrop for numerous movies, including Forrest Gump, and Prince of Tides. It is also home to one of the very few drive-in movie theaters still operating on the east coast and was recently named one of the top 20 fishing towns in America.
